Cioè la storia base c'è, però dato ke Gaston Leroux non aveva mai conosciuto la corista Christine Dahè e neppure il vero Fantasma ha dovuto cercare di dare a questi personaggi i caratteri di altre persone! Queste persone sono:

Altra fonte di ispirazione per Leroux è il famoso libro "TRILBY" di George du Maurier! Da questo libro Leroux ha preso diversi spunti! Così pure ha preso spunti da alcuni racconti di Edgar Allan Poe tipo la famosa "Morte Rossa"!
